What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is not easy to describe in a few words.  It is a process by which an individual experiencing dissatisfaction with life and relationships, or psychological symptoms like anxiety and depression, works with a trained professional to bring about positive change.

How Does Psychotherapy Work?

The process of change takes place in a confidential and trusting relationship with a highly skilled professional who listens and helps an individual to make sense of their life and patterns of thinking and behaving. Through the ongoing and exciting process self-discovery and working-through of embedded feelings, change becomes possible.

How Does Therapy with Young Children Work?

Children communicate their thoughts and feelings through play.  A trained therapist is able to understand a child’s inner world, feelings, and frustrations by observing and participating in the child’s play.  Much of the work of therapy occurs through fantasy play, however, the results are very real and transfer directly to the child’s life.

Will Therapy Work for Me?

An evaluation with a skilled professional, that is likely to take 2 or more sessions (hours), will help you to evaluate the psychologist, the psychologist’s recommendations, and determine if psychotherapy is right for you.

What Does Therapy Cost?

My fees are comparable with my training and experience and the fees charged locally by psychologists. When you phone me, I will discuss fees and payment options with you.

About Insurance?

I do not take insurance, but will provide you with receipts that you may submit for reimbursement.  Each insurance company and plan is different, and you should check with your provider and determine whether and to what extent “out of plan psychologist providers” are covered by your insurer.
